Tea Time With Lipton

Posted February 11th, 2009

Like most of our projects Mathematic was involved from the very beginning for Lipton's Tea Time Campaign. We were asked to give notes about the production from the initial Agency boards to show how the filming could be produced. The notes that we wrote helped launch the development of the production design which involved a life sized green screen swimming pool and supporting staircase...that was later to be replaced by a full scale CG set. Check out the behind the scenes on our blog.

Development of the Fruit

Apart from the decor, the other main point about the film was the actors interaction with photoreal giant fruit. Here are a few CG tests we created during preproduction.

3D Animatic

The 3D animatic became an essential part of the process too. It helped to distinguish the framing and therefore enabled the team to anticipate the size of the studio we would need, as well other factors of the live action shoot and set build.

Decor Development

We started the 3D decor before the shoot to aid the development and build of the green screen set. It was also essential to preview the set for the client, agency and production teams and we were able to use the 3D to create mock up lighting plans and framing.

Set Planning

We worked hand in hand with the director and set designer to translate the CG designs to the set. Here are a few of the many sketch plans created in this process.

Without saying our Technical team supervised on the live action shoot. Check out the blog for more behind the scenes photos of the set.

As well as all the 3D, we did all the compositing, final grading and finalization of the film and pack shot. The final film was created in a number versions for international broadcast.
