Orange Film Supporters

Posted September 8th, 2008

'Supporters' was shot in an Athens Football stadium with only 400 people, with it's actual capacity is 40 000 supporters. Our main goal therefore was fill the void and the create an entire and realistic crowd out of 3D. All the simulations were created in 3DS with our own plugin developments. We added a lot of VFX, such as smoke and flags to add volume to the image. Also another way we aided the production was that we were able to create the last shot, except the team on the field, in 100% CG. The compositing was done in flame with two combustion stations involved in the process. We delivered 7 versions of the film in 4 weeks.

Check out our blog to see some extras from behind the scenes.

This quicktime shows some of the work in progress of the building up of the background that we did using the existing crowd and the green screen...

This was a little close up test we did of the crowd in action. It shows the level of detail the crowd needed to have in the film...
