Kris Moyes Directs Lacoste Online Campaign

Posted May 1st, 2009

LACOSTE RED which Mathematic developed with with director Kris Moyes as part of as an online package for the leading French Fashion Brand was another great challenge to add to our portfolio.

The visual concept was to obtain a permanent 3D circular camera movement in slow-motion. We wanted to show the subjects from different angles with a visual continuity and we wanted to keep the motion of the models within the space. It was creating using a blend between slow-motion and bullet-time of which we had to imagine the visual grammar. We decided to use 3 phantom cameras at 1000fps in a synced set-up. We had to define the right angles and distances (see below our 3D plans for this). The 3D animatic was also really helpful in this process.

The initial stages of the development meant carefully planning each sequence. The drawn storyboard was just the first step....

3D Animatic and Plans

After which Mathematic worked on a 3D animatic with the director which was later used to plan the set up for the shoot.

Camera Set-up in Studio

Here are a couple of snap shots taken on the shoot showing the set up if the three digital phantom cameras. As you'll see there are a specific angles created on the floor that were initiated by our plans.
